The Açaí Lab (Applied Computing and Artificial Intelligence Lab) at Eastern Michigan University conducts research at the intersection of artificial intelligence, speech and language processing, and human-centered computing, with a focus on using AI to address real-world challenges. Our recent work spans computational analysis of healthy aging and depression detection, large language models for phishing detection, multimodal image-text learning, and speech prosody analysis. We are particularly interested in building practical and socially impactful AI systems. A core mission of the lab is mentorship and research training for both undergraduate and graduate students.
